Introducing – Between You & Me
THE BACK STORY: While pop punk may be seen to be lacking any originality lately, Between You & Me are producing anthemic tunes to prove the naysayers wrong.
Australia is slowly becoming renowned for its sunkissed pop punk. Following in the footsteps of the likes of Tonight Alive and With Confidence, Melbourne’s Between You & Me are continuing to fly the flag but with far more of a punch.
Some may know them already from their recent stint of the UK supporting Liverpool pop punk collective WSTR, where they outshone the headliners with their hectic onstage antics. Reminiscent of the best of early noughties bands that built the genre in both sound and stage presence, they bring a sense of sentimentality over something completely new.
They officially formed in 2016 after their casual acoustic covers on YouTube helped them find their feet as a band. They went on to release their debut original track ‘Cavalier’ in April that year; an energetic track which is full of angst and nostalgia both in the lyricism and old school pop punk rhythms. This was followed up by their five-track EP Paper Thin in October. Signing to Hopeless Records – the home of Sum 41, Neck Deep and All Time Low to name but a few – in 2017, they’ve now caught the eye of an ever-growing fanbase of critics and bands alike.
Their debut album Everything Is Temporary was released last July, which Dead Press! called “thirty minutes of energetic, punchy, feel-good pop-punk” and rated 7/10. Full of singalong choruses, heavy kicks and humorous juvenile lyrics, it’s everything fans could want from a pop punk release.
Catch them on the remaining dates of their UK co-headlining tour with Story Untold later this month, as well as at Slam Dunk Festival on May bank holiday weekend.
